How the 30 Day Challenge Helped Me Lose 45 Pounds

45 Pounds Lost Since November 2018

About a year and a half ago, I was at a little below 200 pounds (198 was my maximum, to be exact).

Being overweight was nothing new to me. Even when I was 9 years old, I was already starting to go on various “diets” and trying to watch what I eat. Unfortunately, whenever I stopped whatever diet I was on, I would get back the weight I lost and more. This cycle continued well into my adult life.

My work and social lives left me with very little time to look after myself. Gradually, as time went on, I became depressed, withdrawn and lacked energy – even the most mundane tasks became an effort and a struggle. I had a hard time doing anything with my two little children, which was the most painful of all.

I started learning about the Herbalife 30 Day Challenge from social media, and even read in the papers about some celebrities having a lot of success with it and getting back in shape after having kids. After looking at it on and off for a few months, I decided to give it a shot. I felt that I was on a one way trip to obesity, and thought that I might as well try to do something positive for myself.

I started – cautiously – with the smallest package, the Starter, with which I received a chocolate shake and a protein powder mix. I started with one Herbalife meal per day – breakfast only, and tried to eat healthy for the rest of the day. Even though my weight remained constant for the first week or so, I noticed that I had more energy during the day, and that my cravings for snacks and sweets were noticeably smaller. I had lost a few pounds after two weeks, so I was quite content with how the programme was going. 

However, since I saw that the shakes tasted good and kept me full and feeling good, I decided to try to speed up the process a bit, and for the next package I decided to go with the Super Weight Loss. The difference between the two is that I now replaced two meals per day with the shake – breakfast and then lunch, while having a healthy and light dinner at home in the evenings.

After making this change, the results were far more noticeable. In the first week after starting the Super Weight Loss programme, I had lost 5 pounds. By the end of the first month I had lost a bit over 15 pounds. The 30 day format helped motivate me – I found it much easier to stick to the plan when I could follow my progress over set periods of time, rather than follow something vague that has not beginning and no end. 

Up to now, I have gone through 4 months of the 30 day plan. I have lost a total of 45 pounds – which I find to be amazing, especially for someone who always had problems sticking to any kind of meal plan. I feel that I still have a lot to do, but I am thrilled to be on such a great path.
