Can I Only Lose Fat in My Problem Areas (Thighs, Belly…)?

In a word, no.

You did not choose in which areas to get the unwanted fat, so you will not be able to choose in which areas to lose it. You should focus on complete weight and fat loss, and not just on specific areas of that you think are most problematic.

What Does this Mean in Practical Terms?

For example, if you go to the gym, do not focus on only doing exercise for your legs (if that is what you feel your problem area is). Rather, focus on a complete body workout that uses as many muscle groups as possible. Try to get in some cardio as well, such as jogging, cycling or walking, and you will be well on your way.

More importantly, the fact that you cannot target certain body areas for weight loss also means that you should stay away from “miracle” creams or cures that will help you lose inches or fat in a specific area; unfortunately, there are no such treatments or cures, and in the best case scenario, they will just be a waste of money.  Do you want to lose fat from you belly area? The process is more or less the same as for someone who wants to lose fat from his or her thighs.

The good news is that once you start losing weight, chances are that you will start seeing the biggest changes exactly in the areas that are the most problematic. After all, this is where most of the fat is stored, and once it starts disappearing, you will see clear and visible results. Focus on the basics – eating a healthy diet and getting as much physical activity as you can.
